You're excited. You have a shiny new website. You and your team have worked hard on refining your new websites goals, content, messages and values. You're proud and you want to spread the good news.

However, it can be difficult to get your message noticed in the constant flow of information online.

Below are 4 first steps you can take in order to tell the world of your new site.

1. Use your email list!

Email marketing - you should have a growing email list of your current clients and those interested in your content. Make sure they are the first to know, give them a first glance, make it and 'exclusive' first look. If you don't have an active email list, then drop them a message manually, to keep them informed.

If you're looking to set up an email list there are some great providers. We favour Mailchimp, however, there are many other great providers – Active Campaign, Constant Contact or Get Response. Add a sign up to your website, if you don't already have one and give visitors an incentive, such as a free download or promise of regular relevant news and insight.

2. Engage with social media

Get connected and start a conversation. Social media is a great place to fanfare the launch of your new website. Ask for retweets and reposts, promote your home page or send them to your latest blog post. Some platforms benefit from multiple announcements, especially Twitter as it can be a very busy place. Ask your followers to share the news. Why not post a competition linked to your new launch, always a great way to drive traffic.

3. Write a new blog post

Content is a valuable asset and a great place for regular fresh content in your blog. Publish new articles regularly after launch. Ideally once a month or at least on a regular basis. Prove your expertise with both short and long-form blog posts that give your unique insight and value. Keep the content of your new site fresh and up-to-date. Actively seek relevant or influential guest bloggers or professional partners and experts to contribute to your blog. Helps to vary your content whilst still staying relevant and useful.

4. Start a Podcast

Podcasting for business is a really great way to vary your content and reach a wider audience. It's not just for the tech scene or start ups, it's a great marketing communication tool that any business can utilise. The technology is getting easier to use and the costs to setting up reducing, so it's easier than ever to get started.
