Website Design and Development
Springer Health commissioned the Arttia Creative team to design and develop a parallax/GSAP-style website to provide information on Alzheimer’s Disease. The website included parallax scrolling effects with multimedia interactions that reveal additional content. The multimedia content included videos, animations and pop-up information boxes. The timeline-based animations complemented a uniquely illustrated neurodegeneration infographic.
The website experience explained neuroinflammation and its critical role in Alzheimer’s disease. It was delivered through an engaging, self-directed animation using Parallex/GSAP scrolling, which provided visitors with an easy-to-navigate illustration with punctuated stages that they could view at their own pace.
Medically illustrated and designed to have natural rest points for visitors to view detailed information with an educational focus, this experience is broken down into bite-sized chunks presented at a user-led pace. Visitors can also download a static infographic of the information PDF.
Educational results:
- How risk factors such as diabetes can lead to systemic inflammation via disturbed microglia activity, oxidative stress and BBB disruption
- Process of systemic inflammation leading to neuroinflammation through primed microglia
- The current theory behind the link between neuroinflammation, amyloid-beta accumulation and hyperphosphorylation of tau
- How these three hallmarks of AD ultimately lead to neuronal damage
“This is the first time we have worked with Arttia, and it was a complex project that required more revisions and meetings than originally anticipated, which Arttia accommodated well. The overall website was really impressive, and has had very good feedback from our learners and stakeholders. We would definitely work with Arttia again.”

The project was funded for 12 months by an educational grant from Novo Nordisk A/S.
A detailed infographic was designed and illustrated to support the interactive website. Medical illustrations and unique icons.
